Sleeping
Know how to sleep with your new or natural style. Make sure you sleep with a silk or satin rag or scarf on your head to protect your style. Even a du rag or a bandana will work. Don't just go to bed with nothing on your head, if you do your style will not stay and will want to blame the hairdresser for your style not staying as long as he/she said it would. It is up to you to take care of the style when you leave the salon. Even if you have braids or a weave or extensions putting something on your head before you go to sleep will help your style stay intact. Not only that, it will keep some of the natural oils in your hair. Even if you are not Black, you need some of the oils to stay in your hair. The good oils. Do not go to bed without having something on your head.
Washing
You need to wash your hair at least once a month. Even if you have a weave or dreads or extention braids. It does not matter. WASH YOUR HAIR. Please do not wait till it is time to take your style out or down to wash your hair. It will be even worse to wash for you and or your stylist. If you do not know how to wash you new style ask the salon or a stylist that you know. If you want to know how to wash your style even though you did not get it done by me, call (520)573-3483. I will even tell you what products to use.
Styling
Please please please do not pull your style tight on your head into a bun or ponytail!! Have you seen those people that have their front and side hair lines gone? That is the reason. They pull their hair tight and then want to say braids pull your hair out or extentions pull your hair out. No, you pull your hair out! Yes, put your hair into a ponytail, just not a really really tight one.
Myths
Dreadlocks can't be washed. Lie!!! If I hear one more person tell me dreadlocks can't be washed I will just die. There are products out there made for dreadlocks. Shampoos, Conditioners and much more.Go to naani.com. Now, wash that funky head!!
Braids smell when you wash them. Only because you did not let them dry completly. After you wash your braids (even if you have extensions) let them completly dry. If you don't let them dry the water that is still in your hair will mold. Let them dry before you do anything els to them.
Braids and extensions are only for black people and females. Lie again. If you are interested in getting your hair done, go for it. It does not matter your race or your sex. Have fun.
